Fleet Week New York is an annual event that celebrates the sea services. Fleet Week includes military displays and demonstrations, as well as a public visit of participating ships.

 

 

However, due to a lack of Federal budget, this event will not push through this year. This does not mean, though, that we ought to stop honoring the U.S.’s maritime heritage. Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

 

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is the perfect place to learn about our country’s maritime history. In here, you can see a collection of museum ships, including the USS Growler, the USS Intrepid and a Lockheed A-12 supersonic reconnaissance plane. The museum also houses the Space Shuttle Enterprise on its grounds.

 

This museum is the venue for most Fleet Week events.

 

General admission is $24, while guided tours can be availed for an additional $22 for adults and $16 for kids.

BLDG 92

 

Here at BLDG 92, you can learn more about the history and the milestones of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. You can take a look at its current exhibits showing the past, the present and the future of the navy yard, as well as its rotating photo exhibits, among many others.

 

BLDG 92 is part of what used to be a shipbuilding. Everyone can get in here for free, but the place is open only from Wednesdays to Sundays, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
